The newest artist showcasing at The Artwork Hub is Jason Athen, a Pennsylvania-born artist, originally educated in the culinary arts and fiber optics truly discovered his passion and himself in his paintings.

The Vancouver artist gets his inspiration from delving into his emotions and sharing that through art. He takes every day settings and photography and combines them with underlying themes by drawing on past & present experiences. He uses layers to express the complexity of people and the world we all reside in.

“The Friction of Distance” offers a series of stories from Jonathan Taggart’s recent work with First Nations communities in British Columbia. A collection of compelling and impactful narratives woven around themes of vibrant resiliency, the exhibition opens with Taggart’s exploration of the remote territories of the In-SHUCK-ch Nation, illuminating the cultural and economic implications of isolation as the group transitions through the BC Treaty process. The friction of another distance is recounted in Taggart’s document of one young family’s successful bid to bring their children out of foster care, and lastly...

As the graffiti scene in Vancouver influenced Scott early on, he found himself absorbingthe advice of older style writers. Soon after, Scott adopted the phrase "Sue Me" as an alias. Scott as "Sue Me" has come to embody the apposition of the "refined artist" and the desire to rebel through artistic outlets.

Scott’s DIY-nature led him away from Emily Carr Art Institute in 2005 so that he couldsink himself into the graffiti culture. Since leaving school, Scott has been commissionedby Nike, Microsoft, VANOC, City of Vancouver, Holt Renfrew, Lululemon and ShawCable on projects relating to graphic design, public art and corporate art ventures.
