9:00-9:30 – Registration – We will have coffee provided by Waves Coffee House and tea by Great Wall Tea.  In an effort to save trees, you DO NOT need to print your tickets.  We will have your name on a list. (there is a little over 170 attendees and over 10 volunteers so please come early so we can check in everyone quickly)

9:30-10 - Pitching session – If you are looking to lead a session you want to be prepared to pitch by this time.  If you are not pitching a session, should you still come early? YES ABSOLUTELY. You in the audience get to shape the schedule of the day, you get to vote which session make it on the calendar so please come early!

12:00-1:15 – Keynote Speaker & Lunch – We will grab lunch quickly and be seated  to hear Mike Vardy -keynoting about The Productivity Diet

Samosa, spring roll & veggie platter & lemon tarts for dessert generously sponsored by 3sisters catering.  Crepe Des Amis & The Crab Shop inside River Market also has special Freelance Camp lunch deals for $5.  Snacks throughout the event is generously sponsored by popchips.

4:55-5:05 – Closing Speaker & Prizes – Gregg Kettner will closing Freelance Camp with laughters.  We wrap up the day with giveaways.

River Market is located at 810 Quayside Drive, near the intersection of 8th Street and Columbia Street in downtown New Westminster.

It is one block south of the New Westminster Skytrain station.

River Market is only 25 minutes from Vancouver by car or by Skytrain, and only 30 minutes by car from either BC Ferry terminal and the USA border crossings.

Parking at the Market is also easy.

There are two parking lots managed by Advanced Parking to serve you:
West Lot – 810 Quayside Drive (Cash & Credit), $1.50 for 2 hours and $5.50 all day (6am – 6pm)
East Lot – 750 Quayside Drive (Credit Cards only), $1.50 for 2 hours

He is currently the Canada Editor at The Next Web and also spends a lot of time “stay-at-home fathering”. He has contributed guest articles to several blogs in the productivity sphere as a “legitimate productivity-ist”, including a year-long stint as editor of Work Awesome, the popular productivity/work-life balance blog. He also produced and hosted the podcast adjunct to the site before launching his own podcast, dubbed ProductiVardy, in August 2011.

Elsewhere in the podcasting realm, he co-hosts Dyscultured – a weekly podcast and live stream with Anthony Marco, Andrew Currie and Shane Birley that that discusses (and dissects) technology and pop culture with a distinctively Canadian flavour. He has also appeared on CBC Radio’s On The Island and the popular FourCast podcast on the TWiT network.

Mike Vardy will be keynoting at lunch about The Productivity Diet

Putting the Freedom into Your Freelancing is a talk that will discuss how freelancers can stop “doing” productive and start “being” productive. A balanced productivity diet isn’t just about getting productive so that you can start producing results, it’s about picking the right things to use and do to ensure that you can deliver the results that are right for you and your work.

Through practical tips, advice and examples of how following that path will give freelancers the freedom to pursue the things that are really important to them, Mike Vardy will talk about how you can do work that is fulfilling, rather than just doing work that keeps you full.”

Greg Kettner was born and raised in Hong Kong and migrated with his family to Canada six years later.

Since getting on stage in 2005 on a dare, he has played to thousands across Canada in clubs, casinos, pubs and theatres.

You’ve heard of Just for Laughs, Last Comic Standing and Comedy Now…so has Greg.

His lucky break came in 2008 when he performed impromptu for 3,500 SAP co-workers in Las Vegas, which lead to opening for Grammy Award winner Joss Stone.

Greg’s comedy has been featured at the Vancouver Comedy Festival, the Calgary FunnyFest and on XM Radio.

His corporate clients include Coca Cola, Vancouver Canucks, SAP, Business Objects, HUB International, Key West Ford, Oceanside Rotary and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games.

Greg has helped raise over $20K for various charities such as Jest for Joy, Movember, Prostate Cancer Foundation, Leukaemia & Lymphoma Society and Kayak for a Cure.

Greg lives in Vancouver, Canada and enjoys cooking, traveling and playing hockey.
