SIFE Entrepreneurship Competition: VenueWize
It is important not only support the local business community as it stands today, but also to support the business owners of the future. That’s why The Network Hub works with SIFE Simon Fraser, an organization that aims to encourage entrepreneurship among its students.
Standing for Students In Free Enterprise, SIFE is a “global student organization that encourages students to develop social entrepreneurial projects and gain entrepreneurial skills.” A competition for Student Entrepreneur of the Year (SEY) is held regularly on a regional and national basis, giving the SIFE teams across the country the chance to showcase their projects and what they have done.
Coming in 2nd place this year at SFU-SEY was Arvand Alviri of VenueWize. It is an “innovative web and mobile based system for event organizers,” allowing them to “capture guest loyalty, measure team performance, build their guest database and even check-in guests with tablets and smartphones.”
In collaboration with SIFE, The Network Hub is providing VenueWize with complimentary work space for about a five month period. This has allowed Arvand to hire and work with employees, increase productivity, and reach several milestones. It has also presented him with great networking opportunities that will surely work in his favor moving forward.
