Celso Siado of DFC Wireless
With Friend Friday, we highlight some of the wonderful entrepreneurs and small business owners who do their thing at The Network Hub. This week, we take a look at Celso Siado of DFC Wireless.
Please tell us who you are and what you do.
My name is Celso Dario Siado. I’m originally from Colombia. My company is DFC Wireless. We design industrial instrumentation for Oil & Gas applications. Most of my clients are in Texas and Alberta but the products get deployed all over the world.
Tell us something unique about your company.
We try to bring new technologies into an industry that is reluctant to embrace them. Our latest project is to provide a satellite communication solution for natural gas sites and we are bringing technologies from other industries to make it reliable and cost effective to our customers.
What inspired you to get into this line of work?
I love hardware and understand how it works, whether it is designing my own or breaking apart someone else’s . I lived in Texas for ten years and I was impressed by the hardware being developed for oil & gas so it seemed like a natural path for me.
What do you enjoy the most about what you do?
Seeing our products successfully withstand some of the most brutal environments on the planet, from freezing temperatures in Northern Alberta, blistering sun and sand storms in the middle east to tropical storm forces in the gulf of Mexico.
Where do you see your industry going in the next 2 years?
Instrumentation is getting more interconnected and smarter because of our need to optimize our energy production and consumption. Projects like smart power grids and real time production optimization are just starting and the following years their growth will be exponential.
What made you decide to work at The Network Hub?
Since my customers are not in the Vancouver area my networking opportunities in my industry are limited so I wanted a work space where I could connect with other entrepreneurs. As a side benefit I’m in an awesome location for a comfortable price.
How has the experience been for you?
It’s been great, interesting people to be surrounded by and an excellent and friendly staff.
