With the beach, surf, and great outdoors as its backdrop, one of Canada’s most distinctive destinations is looking towards building a coworking community for both locals and visitors. It would be a first for Tofino, a village of about two thousand with double the numbers in the summer. The town is collaborating with coworking pioneer The Network Hub and Thrive Junction to further develop the concept with a crowd-sourcing survey.
“Tofino is truly unique in its location and island offerings,” says Jen Dart, executive director of Tofino-Long Beach Chamber of Commerce. “We are thrilled to take the lead on conducting a feasibility check for our local business community. Coworking is a growing movement now commonplace not just in North America but around the world. It is a concept that can definitely be sustained in Tofino, especially with our burgeoning young entrepreneurs and visitors who can work from anywhere.”
Anticipating interest from local, regional and global business owners, entrepreneurs, freelancers, contractors and more,
Phase 1 of building the coworking community is conducting interviews & surveys to establish interest and demand – COMPLETED.
Phase 2: we will be roundtable events to determine specific work, meeting & event space needs for locals and visitors – In Progress
You are invited to attend a roundtable event to share your existing and future needs in a local Innovation Hub including infrastructure, programs/events, collaboration technology and workplace destination branding.
